It was only a matter of time... the imminent special comment on the MTA:

So, a train ride that usually takes me about 1 hour 45 min, took me close to 3 hours this morning!!!! Yea, the conductor made us all "evacuate" the train and told us there was a train"right behind this one". Yeah right!!! Unless "right behind" means 20 min later, then maybe. And if it couldn't get worse... of course I'm in the very last car, so when all 50+ of us get off, we were forced to squeeze together, standing on a platform no bigger than 2 feet. And of course we were directly under an open vent letting in all the cold wind from outside. Plus, I can remember on at least 3 occasions seeing rats scamper by when the doors opened to this station, the one where I was stranded, in the same spot where I was standing. Finally, a train came and took us all on our merry little way...

The thing that really irks me is the reason behind this delay. Whenever there's a train delay, the conductors will give one of these top reasons: 1. sick passenger on train ahead, 2. traffic, 3. signal problems. Today it was the "sick passenger." The worst is when there's a sick passenger on the train ahead and one on your train, too. I'd like to see these so called sick passengers. I've seen people faint on trains (me included, well, I didn't really 'see' myself faint, but I did faint), and vomit but never has the train actually been stalled for these people. So, I tend to think that maybe there is no 'sick passenger' and that something else, something more scary, is happening. But these train conspiracies can be discussed at a later date.

So, I eventually got into work-- about an hour late. Don't think I'm trashing the MTA workers-- if it were not for those worker, I wouldn't be able to get to and from work, let alone any traveling around the city. I'm just bitching about my crappy morning.

Plus: I left my apt in a rush this morning and didn't have time to get a coffee.... so that pissed me off even more. Hopefully, the ride home will be better. I have SO many MTA stories-- there will be more.
